- 1). Start your car about 10 minutes before you have to leave the house. After 10 minutes, turn the defroster on high with the heat all the way up and the rear defroster on as well.
- 2). Brush away any loose snow or ice on the hood, roof and windows.
- 3). Spray each windshield wiper blade with deicer to prevent it from sticking to the windshield later. If your wiper blade is frozen to the windshield, it could tear loose from the wiper and be useless against rain and snow.
- 4). Scrape the rest of the ice from each window and brush it off the car.
- 5). Turn on the windshield wipers and allow them a few seconds to wipe away the water and bits of ice that have collected on the windshield.
- 6). Scrape the ice from your side mirrors.
