Indicators of Leadership

How many times everyday are you asked, how is the organization doing? Corporate level managers are looking at numbers typically which is one source but numbers don't tell the entire story.
There is a tool you can use yourself to evaluate the Leadership being provided to your team.
The first area is Morale, at which level is overall morale of your team.
If it's high that is great but if it is medium to low then you need to start digging and find out why.
Is there a leader that s dragging morale down, it can be caused by rumors that haven't been addressed and dissolved to name a few.
You have to be open minded enough to accept that it may be you and your actions Proficiency will be next, just how proficient is your team? You are ultimately responsible for the success and failure of your team.
Lack of proper training has sunk many ships without a shot being fired.
You can rest assured that if their proficiency is low then the morale is normally right in line.
Team Atmosphere will either be excellent or marginal and it is indicative of the Leaders working together.
If you have different leaders that are concerned for their area only there will be dissention.
When every leader has bought into the entire team concept it will be very obvious.
The senior leader is responsible for sending a clear message of their expectations concerning teamwork Discipline is the last indicator and has major impact on how your organization is performing.
Once again every leader should demand the same expectations for everyone; if one allows violation of discipline then the team will pick it up instantly.
The smallest discipline infractions have to be dealt with, if not they will come back on you in the future.
The indicators of Leadership all support each other, if you have a weakness in one of them it will filter into the other 3 if you don't take necessary action.
You also may want to consider someone that isn't employed at your location but with the same type business to spend some time at your business observing the indicators.
If you decide to make the observations yourself then you will have to be open minded and honest with yourself.
These 4 areas may sound pretty simple, they are vital to the success of your team and business.
