How to Fix the Rotating Dish in a Microwave

    • 1). Remove the microwave oven's power cord from the wall outlet. Open the door and lift the dish off the turntable.

    • 2). Place a paper towel on the kitchen countertop. Place the dish face down on the paper towel. Spray the exposed side of the dish with glass cleaning spray. Wipe the exposed side of the dish dry with a paper towel. Turn the dish over and repeat this procedure on the exposed side now facing up.

    • 3). Spray glass cleaning spray on a paper towel. Wipe the edge of the dish with the moistened paper towel.

    • 4). Lift the turntable out of the microwave oven and place it on another paper towel that has been placed on the kitchen countertop. Duplicate the procedure that was used to clean both sides of the dish, as well as its edges.

    • 5). Spray glass cleaning spray on a cotton swab. Run the cotton swab around the pole at the center of the turntable that is now facing up. If there is no pole, run the cotton swab against the three sets of rollers that ring the edges of the side that is now facing up.

    • 6). Spray the inside of the microwave oven with general purpose household cleaning spray. Wipe the inside dry with a paper towel.

    • 7). Moisten the end of a cotton swab in distilled alcohol. Insert the moistened end of the swab in the motor hole in the bottom of the microwave oven, Twist the swab to remove loose dirt and other contaminants from inside the edges of the hole. If there is no hole in the bottom of the microwave oven, clean out the groove circling the bottom with the swab instead (the turntable riding in the rail of the groove).
