4 Most Romantic South Indian Destinations in India

South India has long been under the shadow of its northern counterpart. But now, things are changing for the good. People have opened up to the beauty of this corner of the country and are more than willing to plan their honeymoon here. It must be stated that South Indian destinations have emerged as more soothing and calmer. Therefore, for a crowd-free and clutter-free romance, they offer a better ambiance.

There are many great romantic destinations in South India. Here, we present a vignette of the best four:

Coorg: Coorg holiday packages have saw a spurt in their sale over the past 3-4 years and the number is growing from strength to strength. This hill station in the state of Karnataka is small, quiet and very picturesque. South India, in fact, is gaining popularity for presenting such quiet hills which are very much comparable to the poetic hills of Scotland. For couples who wish to get away from the cacophony and bustle of metros and far-more-crowded northern hills, Coorg offers a brilliant reprieve. Coorg is also known for its verdant spice plantations and some excellent vantage points like the Raja's Seat. So, photography is another joyful thing to be pursued in this town. With Coorg tour packages from Bangalore and other cities readily available online, traveling and sightseeing have become an easy matter of a child's play.

Munnar: If Coorg is the best hill station in Karnataka, it is Munnar which rules the roost in Kerala. Munnar, for a long time now has triumphed over other conventional favorites like Shimla and Manali. One cannot expect snowfall over these hills, but the solace and tranquility which exist here are just stupendous. Some beautiful lakes and waterfalls also punctuate the hills occasionally and one can never have enough of the rich flora and fauna which sits here. Wildlife parks and sanctuaries which lie in and around Munnar are added attractions. Munnar, in comparison to Coorg, is slightly more expensive. So, those looking for a romantic hilly ride at a modest budget may still prefer to go with Coorg holiday packages.

Cochin: Kerala has another beautiful feather in its cap in the form of Cochin. Cochin or Kochi is very unconventional in almost every sense of the word. Here the world goes about its business in an unassuming old-style way. There is little to forget about this place. The sea is a riot in all its colorful waves. The sunset, especially the one from Fort Kochi, is something of an enigma and the fishing market and culture is very endearing and nostalgia-inducing. Cochin's romance is very Elizabethan type and a number of honeymooners make a stopover in this corner just to experience that skillfulness.

Bangalore: Bangalore is a metro city and may not seem romantic on the face of it. But its plethora of shops, temples and gardens make it a creamy destination for luxury-loving honeymooners. There are luxurious resorts in the town. Coorg is just a short distance away and the famous Bannerghata Wildlife Park is just on the outskirts.
