How to Remove 100% Acrylic Paint From a Deck

    Removing Freshly Spilled Acrylic Paint

    • 1). Wipe up the fresh paint as quickly as possible using paper towels or disposable cloths.

    • 2). Scrub the deck using the soap, water and sponges, cleaning off as much of the paint as possible. Acrylic paint is water-based and will clean up using cloths and water.

    • 3). If the paint is old and dried, remove as much paint as possible with the paint scraper.

    • 4). Sand and remaining paint down as smooth as possible.

    • 5). Pour acetone or paint remover on the area and allow it to set before wiping it off if the paint is still not coming off.

    • 6). Scrape the area once more to remove any remaining paint.
