- 1). Remove furniture from a wet carpet and place in a dry area.
- 2). Run a wet/dry vacuum over the wet carpet. Start at one end of the room and slowly glide the vacuum back and forth over the carpet. Empty the holding tank of water periodically to improve the suction power of the wet/dry vac. Continue to vacuum until water stops extracting from the carpet.
- 3). Place a dehumidifier in the room and allow it to run continuously. Empty the water tank in the dehumidifier once a day. Run the dehumidifier until water stops forming in the tank.
- 4). Lay old towels across smaller wet areas and push into the rug to help it sop up moisture.
