- 1). Mark the faulty breaker with a grease pencil or marker so it is easily identified.
- 2). Flip all of the individual circuit breakers in the electrical box outward toward the edge of the box to turn them off. Flip the right-side breakers to the right and the left-side breakers to the left.
- 3). Turn off the main power supply breaker to the electrical box.
- 4). Turn each screw in the panel cover on the electrical box counterclockwise with a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen them and pull them straight out. Pull the panel cover straight off.
- 5). Loosen the two screws on the faulty breaker with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Turn the screws counterclockwise about two revolutions to loosen, but do not remove them.
- 6). Grasp one wire under one screw on the breaker with needle-nose pliers. Pull the wire gently from under the screw. Repeat this process to remove the second wire.
- 7). Grasp the breaker with needle-nose pliers and rock it left and right to loosen it. Pull the faulty breaker straight out of the electrical box.
- 8). Press a new breaker into the electrical box. Place the top wire under the top screw and the bottom wire under the bottom wire. Tighten both screws by turning clockwise.
- 9). Place the cover on the electrical box, insert the screws and tighten.

Turn the main power breaker on and flip each circuit breaker on by pushing them to the center of the box.
