- 1). Clean up. Organizing is a way to get a beautiful house without spending a lot of money. Clearing away clutter will let the eye focus on one or two special decorating features or architectural elements. This allows the things that you do spend money on to really stand out.
- 2). Create the allusion of space and light to fake a luxury floor plan or show off your home's architecture. You can have a beautiful house even if you live in a basement apartment or a small condo. Many of the designer homes and mansions that you may admire have one thing in common: there is room to move and lots of sunlight. Use furniture that is to scale so your room doesn't feel crowded. Floor to ceiling bookcases give a room the feeling of an old world library. Add in as much sunlight, lamps, and bright bulbs as possible.
- 3). Use high end finishes. Upscale homes decorate with rich woods, designer furniture, stainless steel appliances, large chandeliers and rich fabrics. This may be out of your budget but you can still have a beautiful house. Use stainless steel accents in your kitchen if you can't afford new appliances such as sugar canisters, a stainless backsplash or knobs. Shop at outlet stores for luxurious silk, velvet or suede draperies. Paint existing or used chandeliers and furniture in the colors you see in home and garden magazines to get the same look for a fraction of the price. Stone flooring may be less expensive than you think such as putting a travertine tile in a small space such as an entryway or bathroom.
- 4). Add color. Paint can turn a house into a home and turn ordinary spaces into your dream home. Dingy white walls scream that you haven't decorated a room. Even switching to a light paint color such as taupe or a pale green will make a big impact.
- 5). Coordinate your room. Not everything in your space has to be an exact match to have a beautiful home. Place colorful pillows on the sofa for an inexpensive makeover and then relate the colors in artwork, vases, or a rug for a room with flow.
- 6). Infuse the house with your personality. Even if you're short on space you can still have the most beautiful house in the world. Accessorize with your favorite colors such as hot pink or orange. Create your own style instead of worrying about keeping up with your neighbors. This will save you money and you'll create a unique space.
