Wear protective goggles, gloves, a hat with some netting attached to it or tucked under it, a thick long sleeve shirt and thick pants. Angry bees will go into attack mode and you want to keep your skin well-covered in the event even one bee comes toward you. - 2). Use a smoker to cause the bees to become mildly sedated. The smoker doesn't put them to sleep, but they become lethargic and inactive, which buys you more time. Evening is the best time to kill and remove the beehive because bees are naturally less active during that time.
- 3). Pour straight boric acid powder all over the beehive. Squirt boric acid powder into any openings in the beehive with an empty, dried-out dish-soap bottle filled with boric acid. Move quickly and apply the boric acid thoroughly, erring on the side of too much, rather than not enough.
- 4). Wait 10 minutes to ensure bee activity has ceased. Use two garden shovels, as tongs, to remove the entire beehive. Place the beehive in a trash bag and seal the bag.
- 5). Burn the beehive, instead, if you're allowed to have fires in your yard. This ensures the beehive and bees are completely destroyed.
