How to Open the Rear Brake Caliper on a Ford Mustang

    • 1). Select the proper size adapter face based on the size of caliper piston in your Mustang and attach it to the caliper piston tool per your specific tool's instructions. Place the adapter face of the piston tool against the face of the piston and secure the clamp end on the other side of the caliper's interior.

    • 2). Turn the handle on the caliper piston tool clockwise to retract the piston. In the event you are working on a dual piston caliper, insert the old brake pad between the tool and the piston heads to distribute the tool's pressure evenly.

    • 3). Release the tool by turning the handle counter clockwise once the pistons are retracted. Insert your replacement brake pads.
