- 1). Locate the transmission cooler underneath the F250's front bumper. Follow the cooler lines from the cooler to the transmission to make certain you're looking at the transmission cooler and not the power steering cooler.
- 2). Position the drain pan underneath the transmission cooler. Remove the transmission cooler lines from the transmission cooler using a socket set.
- 3). Unbolt the transmission cooler from the cross member using the socket set. Set the old cooler aside. Bolt the new cooler in place using the socket set.
- 4). Attach the cooler lines to the new transmission cooler using the socket set. Wipe away any spilled transmission fluid from the undercarriage with a rag. Climb out from underneath the F250 with the drain pan and socket set.
- 5). Open the F250's hood. Start the truck, depress the brake pedal and slowly shift the transmission through all the gears and then back to park without taking your foot off the brake. Remove your foot from the brake and exit the F250 after shifting back into park.
- 6). Pull the transmission dipstick from the tube, wipe it off and reinsert it into the tube. Pull the dipstick back out, and insert the funnel. Note where the fluid is on the dipstick. Add transmission fluid until the fluid level reaches the crosshatch on the dipstick.
