- 1). Cut the label on your bottle into equal parts using a box cutter or a razor blade. Only cut down to the adhesive. You don't want to scrape the bottle.
- 2). Fill your sink with hot, soapy water and place your bottle label side down into the solution. Let it sit there for about 10 minutes. The water and soap will work together to break away the paper label as well as the adhesive underneath.
- 3). Drain the sink and remove your bottle from the solution. Run it under warm water to rinse off any soap residue and then place it on a nearby table or counter.
- 4). Pat the area around the label dry. Get 1 tbsp. of vegetable or olive oil and gently coat the label. It doesn't have to be thick, just make sure the entire label is covered. Let the bottle sit again for approximately five minutes.
- 5). Rinse off the bottle again under warm water. If the label and oil sat long enough, the label should come off when you pass your hand over it. Older labels may take more time. Repeat this process if necessary until the label comes off. If there's any leftover adhesive, use a rag with rubbing alcohol or use nail polish remover.
- 6). Place the bottle in your dishwasher with your other dishes for one final cleaning before reusing the container.
