- 1). Firmly grasp the CD tray from both sides. If the tray is extremely small or thin, grasp both ends of it with a pair of needle-nose pliers with tape on the tips. The purpose of the tape is to not mar or scratch the CD tray.
- 2). Pull the tray toward you slowly with steady pressure until you have enough of the CD exposed to enable you to remove it from the tray.
- 3). Take a thin butter-knife and wrap the flat end of it with tape so that the adhesive side of the tape faces outward. You may want to use two-sided tape for this. Insert the knife into the slot of your CD player and gently press it down on the CD. Once the CD is stuck to the knife, gently lift it up and slide the knife out of the slot, along with the CD. The stuck CD will now be removed from your CD player.
- 1). Turn off your computer.
- 2). Take a medium- or large-size paper clip and straighten the end of the clip.
- 3). Locate a small hole on the front of the CD/DVD drive that is just larger than the size of the paper clip.
- 4). Push the paper clip into the hole slowly to release the catch holding the CD drawer in place. The drive door should manually open.
- 5). Take your computer to a repair technician if CD/DVD drive door fails to open using the paper clip. The drive door is jammed shut and will require a professional to open.
