How to Remove the Coolant Pump of a 99 Jetta Glx 2.8 6Cyl. AAA

    • 1). Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal with a socket wrench. Place a container under the radiator drain and remove the drain plug. Drain the coolant from the radiator and replace the drain plug. Disconnect the air cleaner assembly.

    • 2). Mark the accessory drive belt to indicate its direction of rotation. Hold the drive belt's pulley in place and remove the drive belt. Disconnect the the exhaust pipe from the catalytic converter with a socket wrench.

    • 3). Remove the mounting bolts for the coolant reservoir and move it out of your way. Disconnect the mounting bolts for the rear engine mounts and the coolant pump. Raise the engine from its rear mounts with an engine hoist and remove the coolant pump.
