Jeep Cherokee Troubleshooting

    Maintenance Indicator Light

    • If the maintenance indicator light comes on intermittently and there is no noticeable fault, the fault may be with the actual indicator light itself. If it is hard to determine whether the indicator light is at fault, simply replace the bulb.

    Onboard Diagnostics Test

    • When the Cherokee has problems with performance and handling, it is a good idea to use the onboard diagnostics test to check for faults. Running the diagnostics test will locate problems such as high emissions or any transmission faults there might be.

    Faulty Head Lamps

    • Faulty headlamps in the Jeep Cherokee may be the result of a loose bulb or a blown fuse. Make sure the bulbs are fitted properly inside the lamp. If this is not the source of the problem, check the Cherokee fuse box to make sure the headlamp fuse is in good working order. If it looks burnt or damaged, simply replace with a new fuse. Otherwise, replace the headlamp bulb.
