- 1). Wash the cabinetry thoroughly with soap and water. Allow to dry and wipe with a dry rag to ensure that all dust got removed.
- 2). Paint the cabinets a bold color to make them stand out, like a bright red. Use a striped vertical pattern to accentuate their height even further, especially if you like more muted tones.
- 3). Paint decorative embellishments that continue to the ceiling. For example, stencil ivy leaves trailing up the doors and ending at just past the line where they meet the ceiling.
- 4). Install new, larger vertical door pulls to draw the eye upwards as well. If you like smaller, more streamlined hardware, place it right at the bottom of the cupboards to minimize the visual impact.
- 5). Hang complementary tall artwork next to the cabinets you are decorating. For example, large old fashioned wooden forks and spoons for a country interior design or rectangle mirrors for a contemporary styled space.
