- 1). Decide which bed you are going to make a bedspread for. Measure the bed's length from top to bottom, including the length you would like the bedspread to hang off the edges. Measure the width the same way. Add a few inches to each measurement to allow for space to hem the edges. If you want to tuck the bedspread underneath the pillows, add an extra 20 inches to the length.
- 2). Purchase enough fabric to complete your project. Using pins, fold every side over about 2 to 3 inches to hem the edges. Use the tape measure to make sure that the hem is even.
- 3). Pin the fabric to the lining, if you are using it.Make sure the lining is evenly distributed and lines up with the top fabric.
- 4). Sew the hems in on all sides using the sewing machine and matching thread. Remove the pins as you sew along the line.
- 5). Add a trim fabric piece along the bottom or top of the bedspread. Pin this fabric down and sew it down on both sides.
