Hi, I'm Patty Fernandez and I'm an art teacher. Visit my website at Pattyfernandezartist.com and today we're going to talk a little bit about chalk pastels. Now the thing that you must remember is if you're doing this with a small group of children that you need to keep your eye on them so that they do the technique correctly. You're always going to layer color. I always start with white. You're always going to start really really simple because the problem with using pastels is the kids have a tendency to muddy all of the colors together. So I'm starting with white, I'm going over it with a little bit of yellow because we are making peeps. So we're going to make sure that the colors that we use blend well, take my finger, very lightly blend going out but look at my fingers. You've got to be careful with chalk pastels because it can become extremely messy. Once I've gotten that part I take my orange and I just draw a straight line, straight line, there's my feet, there's my beak and the last thing I'm going to do is add my little black eyeballs and that's it. Now if you keep the project simple you're going to be okay, but look how dirty my hands got again. If you get way too intense with way too many colors, I don't want to figure out what the response is going to be with your finished project. So peeps are easy. You can do more than one and make them entertaining. My name is Patty Fernandez. Visit my website at Pattyfernandezartist.com and I'll see you later.
