How to Replace the License Plate Light on a 2001 F150

    • 1). Turn the engine off and set the parking brake. Put on a pair of clean gloves.

    • 2). Lay a towel underneath the rear bumper to prevent having to lay on the ground, or use a creeper to access the area underneath the bumper.

    • 3). Shine the flashlight to find the license plate bulbs. There are two bulbs, one on each side of the license plate.

    • 4). Twist the bulb counter-clockwise to remove it from the license plate light lens. Pull the old bulb from the socket.

    • 5). Insert the new bulb into the socket. Reinsert the socket into the rear of the license plate light lens. Turn it clockwise. Repeat the procedure for the other license plate bulb, if necessary.
