- 1). Purchase a new fuel filter from your local auto parts store. The type you buy depends on your choice of brands. The auto parts store should be able to assist you in choosing one.
- 2). Open the hood of your car. The fuel filter on a 2003 Toyota Camry is located in a black container near the driver's side of the car. If you are unsure of what you are looking for, find your fuel line and trace it to a black container about 3 inches in diameter; this holds your fuel filter.
- 3). Detach the fuel line from the black container, using a wrench. You might need two wrenches, one to stabilize the hex flange and the other to unscrew the fuel line. Once you have removed the gas line, you should see the fuel filter.
- 4). Using a wrench, remove the fuel filter by taking out the screws holding it in place. Replace the old fuel filter with a new one, securing the new filter in place with the screws you have just removed.
- 5). Reattach the fuel line with a wrench, making sure it is properly aligned. Make sure that you tighten the fuel line.
- 6). Clean up any gas that may have spilled while you changed the fuel filter. Turn your engine on and check under your car for any leakage.
