- 1). Pull as much of the candy from the carpet as possible. For sticky candy, use caution not to pull out carpet fibers. Use a butter knife to scrape chocolate or other loose candy from the flooring.
- 2). Apply 1/2 tsp. liquid dish soap to the remaining candy stain. Gently work the soap into the stain with your fingertips.
- 3). Wet a clean paper towel and blot the stain with it, allowing the soap and candy to transfer from the carpet. Fold the towel as you continue to remove the stain. Wet a new paper towel if the first one becomes saturated.
- 4). Pour 1/4 cup of white vinegar over any remaining stain on the carpet. Blot the area with a clean damp cloth. The vinegar helps dissolve any leftover sticky stain remaining on the carpet. Repeat alternating with the liquid dish soap and the white vinegar until the stain lifts completely.
- 5). Press wet cloths into the carpet to remove all traces of soap and vinegar.
- 6). Lay towels over the wet carpet to soak up excess liquid.
