- 1). Use sponges to create paint patterns on plain paper. Cut shapes appropriate for the occasion out of sponges, such as stars and trees at Christmas time or eggs for Easter. Dip the sponges into poster paint of various colors and print on plain paper. Allow the paint to dry. Wrap the gift in the homemade wrapper and accent with a matching bow.
- 2). Attach colorful plastic beads or distinctive coins to brown paper. This method gives the wrappers a particular texture and if the recipient wishes, he or she can reuse the items later in another craft project. Attach the craft beads, pennies or mosaic pieces to a strong paper, such as brown packaging paper, using a hot glue gun.
- 3). Decorate plain paper with photos from magazines or photocopies of pictures relevant to the recipient. Cut and glue eye-catching photos onto backing paper using a glue stick or white glue. You can also photocopy pictures of the recipient or his or her family or other pictures that have particular meaning and attach them to the paper.
- 4). Cut patterns and shapes and attach them to the backing paper. For example, you can use gold and silver paper to cut snowflake shapes and glue them onto red or green paper to make Christmas wrapping. Similarly, you can cut out Stars of David or menorahs for Hanukkah wrapping.
- 5). Draw a picture using crayons on plain white paper. This is particularly fun for children, who can draw according to their imaginations. If you prefer, you can also use watercolor paints to decorate the paper and allow it to dry before using it to wrap a gift.
