- 1). Open the under-hood relay box on the driver's side of the engine compartment. Pull the fuel pump relay from the relay box, using a slight wiggling motion.
- 2). Start the Express and allow it to run until it stalls. This bleeds all of the pressure out of the van's fuel lines. Turn the Express' ignition off and leave the fuel pump relay out of the Van.
- 3). Raise the rear of the Express with a floor jack and position jack stands under the van's frame rails. Lower the Express 2500 onto the jack stands.
- 4). Crawl under the van until you reach the front of the fuel tank. Locate the fuel filter in front of the fuel tank. Position a drain pan under the fuel filter.
- 5). Loosen the two fuel lines running into the fuel filter using two combination wrenches -- one to hold the nut on the filter and the other to loosen the fuel line.
- 6). Remove the fuel filter bracket bolt, using a ratchet and socket. Pull the fuel filter and bracket from under the van.
- 7). Transfer the fuel filter bracket onto the new fuel filter. Position the filter so the "Flow" arrow points toward the fuel line running to the engine.
- 8). Set the new fuel filter and bracket onto the Express and tighten the bracket bolt with a ratchet and socket.
- 9). Hand-tighten the fuel lines onto the fuel filter. Tighten the fuel lines using two combination wrenches -- one to hold the nuts on the filter and the other to tighten the fuel lines.

Press the fuel pump relay back into the under-hood relay box and close the relay box lid. - 11
Turn the ignition to the "On" position, but don't start the van, for two seconds. Turn the ignition to the "Off" position for 10 seconds. Check the fuel filter for leaks. - 12
Raise the Express off the jack stands, using a floor jack. Remove the jack stands and lower the van to the ground.
