- 1). Sign up for a free web hosting service like Wordpress. Wordpress is completely free and includes the Wordpress content management system. The system acts as a versatile and highly customizable platform/template for your website. It is also open source and free to use. Web hosting with Wordpress is also free. Millions of websites, (including some professional publications) use Wordpress.
- 2). Log in to your administrative panel with the credentials you provided at sign-up. Your admin panel is where you make changes to your website, create new posts, change the appearance of your site, and more.
- 3). Change the default theme of your site. There are thousands of free themes for you to use straight from the administrative panel. It should not be difficult for you to find one that fits the feel of your guild. You can change themes by clicking "add theme" under the "appearance" tab. You can also change what appears on your website's sidebar by editing widgets.
- 4). Add plug-ins to your website. Plug-ins extend existing functions of your website, and create new ones. For example, the "Akismet" plug-in filters out unwanted spam comments on your published website articles. There are also plug-ins that display social networking buttons on your website (i.e. Facebook share, Twitter tweet buttons). There are thousands of plug-ins that expand on your website's functions. You can even create a customizable contact form so that your guild members can contact you.
- 5). Add posts to your website. You should provide details about your guild, including what is required to join your guild. In addition, you should publish information regarding upcoming events and activities. You can also post a list of existing guild members, including their ranks and positions.
