- 1). Determine how many pounds per square inch (psi) of pressure your tires need. On the inside of your driver door panel or in your owner's manual, find what psi your tires should stay at. Some tires even have the required psi printed on their sides.
- 2). Check your tire pressure frequently to make sure the tires are properly inflated. Keep a pressure gauge in your glove compartment so you can check tire pressure wherever you are.
- 3). Inflate your tires with an air compressor to the manufacturer-recommended pressure whenever they are low. Remember to replace the tire caps when you finish inflating them.
- 4). Rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,000 miles. Move your rear tires to the front axle and the front tires to the rear axle. This makes your tires wear evenly and stay inflated more easily.
