How to Make Decoration Soap

    • 1). Cut the soap base into small chunks. Place half the chunks in one Pyrex measuring cup and the other half in the other cup.

    • 2). Cover the cups with plastic wrap and heat in the microwave, in one-minute increments, until the soap is completely melted. Use the spatula to stir often and ensure even melting.

    • 3). Add five drops of yellow dye and 15 drops of blue dye to one container of soap. The soap should turn dark green. Add more yellow or blue to adjust the color. Gently mix the soap and spray the surface with rubbing alcohol if bubbles form.

    • 4). Add 15 drops of yellow dye and five drops of blue dye to the other container of soap to make a lighter green. Adjust the color ratios until you get the desired shade of green. Gently mix the soap and spray the surface with rubbing alcohol if bubbles form.

    • 5). Pour the lighter soap into the sea turtle indentation of each of the soap wells, in one of the trays. Pour the darker soap into the sea turtle indentation in the other soap tray. Leave space between the indentation and the rest of the soap well so that the turtle does not bleed into the rest of the bar.

    • 6). Let the molds set for two minutes or until a thin skin forms. You want the soap to be firm enough that it does not mix with the next layer but soft enough to stick together. Fill the rest of each turtle well with the opposite soap color. This will create two-toned soaps--a dark or light turtle against a contrasting background. Spray the rubbing alcohol on the surface of the bars to disburse any bubbles.

    • 7). Put the soap molds in the refrigerator to harden for approximately one hour.

    • 8). Pop the finished bars out of the molds and wrap them in wax paper for future use.
