Adding texture to walls is a good way to add dimension to otherwise drab walls. French lace texture, also known as Spanish lace texture, is one way to spruce up the walls while covering any imperfections or markings that the walls may already have. Adding this textured finish will ensure that your walls never look the same again. - Tape around the windows, doors and outlet faces to prepare the area. You will also want to tape over any seams if you are working with fresh drywall. Apply two to three coats of joint compound over these taped seams and any nail spots that you find.
- Consider using drywall mud instead of just textured paint for this project. This offers more dimension to your surface.
- Apply the drywall mud directly to fresh drywall. This type of surface will allow the drywall to adhere easily to it.
- If the wall is already painted, make sure that it is clean and free of any oil or residue. Prepare this kind of surface with primer before proceeding.
