Countertop Resurfacing Options

    Laminate Countertops

    • Laminate countertops are durable, stylish and cheap. The material resists stains and scratches from pots, pans and food and drink spills, but it also holds up to rather high heat as well. These countertops come in a wide variety of stones and patterns, designed to mimic other, more costly materials. Price ranges between $20 per foot just to buy the countertop to $65 per foot for professional installation. These countertops only work for indoor surfaces.

    Solid Surface Countertops

    • A solid surface or Corian countertop has a thick sheen that resists spills and cuts. The price varies based on its durability and color. The standard Corian countertop can run from about $100 to $200 per square foot, so it can get pricey, especially considering that these countertops look best when they cover all the counters in the kitchen (or the house in general). These countertops are only for indoor applications.

    Stone Countertops

    • Prices for stone countertops vary based on the location of the quarry and the type of stone you are using. Limestone countertops will run from $65 per foot, while more exotic slabs like granite will run around $300 per foot. Stone is a wonderful countertop material to use, as it can withstand heat and is completely resistant to scratches and staining. It is ideal for any type of countertop anywhere in the house or even outside the house, as it can resist the elements (as it did over the centuries it took to form).
