How to Change a PSP Screen

    • 1). Put the hand towel down on a table. Put the PSP face down on the towel with the battery compartment on the left side.

    • 2). Slide off the battery lid from the battery compartment with your hands. Remove the battery from inside of the battery compartment with your hands.

    • 3). Remove the two screws surround the disc drive door at the upper middle edge of the PSP using the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the screw from the bottom middle edge of the PSP using the using the screwdriver.

    • 4). Scratch off the warranty sticker that is inside of the battery compartment. Remove the screws under the warranty sticker using the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the three other screws inside of the battery compartment using the screwdriver.

    • 5). Turn over the PSP on the hand towel. Rotate the PSP so that the control buttons are facing you. Lift the faceplate up and off of the PSP using your fingers.

    • 6). Insert the tip of the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver between the black button bar bracket at the lower left edge of the PSP and the PSP's bottom shell. Wiggle the tip of the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver to loosen the black button bar bracket. Repeat this procedure at the right side of the black button bar bracket.

    • 7). Remove the black button bar bracket by lifting up on one side of it with the tweezers.

    • 8). Rotate the PSP so that the disc door lid is facing you. Insert the tip of the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver beneath the LCD panel and the PSP's bottom shell on the left side.

    • 9). Wiggle the tip of the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver to loosen the LCD panel. Repeat this procedure on the right side of the LCD panel

      Pull up on one side of the LCD panel with your fingers. Lift the LCD panel off of the PSP's bottom shell. Pull out the two connectors from the circuit board on the bottom shell that are attached to the LCD panel using the tweezers. Place the LCD panel down on the hand towel.

      Release the metal clasp on each side of the LCD panel using the tip of the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Pull the LCD screen out of the LCD panel using your fingers. Discard the LCD screen.

      Remove the protective film from both sides of the replacement PSP LCD screen.

      Insert the replacement PSP LCD screen into the LCD panel. Engage the metal clasps to the LCD screen by pushing down on each of them with the tip of the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver.

      Plug the two connectors from the LCD panel into the circuit board in the bottom shell of the PSP using the tweezers. Place the LCD panel down onto the bottom shell of the PSP. Push down on each side of the LCD panel using the tip of the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver.

      Reinsert the black button bar to the lower bottom edge of the PSP's bottom shell using the tweezers. Push down on each side of the black button bar bracket using the tip of the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver.

      Put the faceplate back onto the PSP. Turn the PSP over. Reattach the screws that were removed. Reinsert the battery into the battery compartment. Close the battery lid on the battery compartment.
