- 1). Determine the best location to install a wireless range extender. Range extenders typically should be placed as high up as possible, on the outer edge of your router's broadcast range. If you do not know its broadcast range, check the documentation that came with the router for an approximation.
- 2). Install the wireless range extender. Place it in the desired location and connect the AC power cable to an electrical source.
- 3). Configure the range extender for your Internet service. Many wireless range extenders feature quick configure buttons that make the configuration process easy. Temporarily disable any wireless security you use on your home network so that the range extender can obtain all relevant configuration settings from your wireless router. Once configured, you can continue to use the range extender to maximize your wireless network's coverage.
