- The 1995 Mitsubishi Montero was the third generation of Montero to be produced, with its production run ending in 1999. Translated as "mountain warrior" in English, the Japanese-manufactured Montero was available with an automatic or manual transmission and the choice of two engines. Two different trim levels were available in 1995: the LS base trim level, and an upgraded trim level named SR.
- The Montero LS carries a curb weight of 4,275 pounds, while the SR model carries a 4,440-pound curb weight. Both models are nearly identical in size, with the slightly larger SR model boasting a wider stance and longer wheelbase. The LS has a total length of 185 inches, a wheelbase measuring 107.3 inches and a width measuring 66.7 inches. The SR model has a 186-inch length, 107-inch wheelbase and 70.3-inch width.
- Both models of the Montero offer seating for up to seven passengers when a third-row folding rear seat is employed. Front passengers receive 40.9 inches of headroom and 40.3 inches of legroom, while rear passengers receive 40 inches of headroom and 37.6 inches of legroom. Standard interior features include air conditioning, cruise control and tilt steering, with leather seating remaining as an option on the SR model.
- Both engine options are a V6, with the base model engine sized at 3 liters and the larger engine sized at 3.5 liters. The 3-liter V6 generates 177 horsepower and 188 foot-pounds of torque, while the 3.5-liter V6 produces 214 horsepower at 221 foot-pounds of torque. A 9-to-1 compression ratio is featured on the 3-liter engine, and a 10.5-to-1 compression ratio is featured on the 3.5-liter option. Both engines are naturally aspirated, with no turbocharger or supercharger available from the factory.
