- 1). Remove the rider's seat. Most Honda motorcycles' batteries are in a tray hidden under the rider's seat. Older CB-series models will have a hinged seat that will need to be unlocked with a key to access the battery. Newer Shadow and CBR seats will need to be unbolted with an Allen key. On these models, the battery will be accessible once the seat has been removed or opened.
- 2). Remove the frame's side covers. On certain Honda motorcycles, such as earlier Goldwings, the battery is behind the side covers. In most cases, the side covers are held in place with a tab and rubber grommet, allowing the cover to be removed by simply pulling it out of the grommet.
- 3). Contact your local Honda dealer for assistance if you cannot locate the battery after looking under the seat and behind the side panels following steps 1 and 2.
