The Yamaha Banshee, according to ATV Rider, "captured the imagination of ATV speed nuts like no other." According to Yamaha, however, 2006 marked the last year that the venerable ATV was in production. The Banshee is a performer, completing in the Baja 1000 and winning its class. The specifications of the Banshee engine drive home the reason this ATV was so successful. - The engine of the Yamaha Banshee is 347cc; it is a two-stroke twin and is liquid-cooled.
- The bore x stroke is 64mm by 54mm, and the engine's compression is 6.5:1.
- The Yamaha Banshee has a Dual Mikuni 26mm carburetor for its fuel delivery. According to Yamaha, the combination of the two-stroke engine and the carburetor is what allows the machine to accelerate quickly.
- The ignition of the Yamaha Banshee is Capacitor Discharge Ignition. To start the Banshee, you use the kick start.
- The Yamaha Banshee has six gears operated by a manual clutch. The ATV is 2-wheel drive and has a sealed O drive chain. The clutch features heavy-duty plates which allows the rider to switch gears quickly and efficiently.
- The Banshee has an extra-large radiator which helps to keep the engine cool.
- The Yamaha Banshee has an exhaust system that features twin expansion chambers. This allows the Banshee to "have maximum engine flexibility and performance."
