Nissan's Pathfinder series was first introduced in 1985 as a two-door vehicle similar in design to a truck. Since then, it has evolved into a sport utility vehicle with four doors and three rows of seats that were a new innovation for 2005. This model-year had an original retail price of about $25,000 for the most basic model. - The standard 2005 Pathfinder comes equipped with a four-liter, 270-horsepower, V6 engine. With a torque of 291 ft.-lbs. at 4,000 RPM, the engine has a bore of 95.5 mm, a stroke of 92 mm and a 9.7:1 compression ratio. The standard model has automatic transmission, and the least expensive has rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive options were also available. The rear-wheel drive model has a fuel efficiency of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 23 on the highway while the all-wheel drive model achieves 15 miles per gallon in the city and 21 on the highway. Both models have a gas tank capacity of 21.1 gallons.
- With a length of 188 inches, a width of 73 inches and a height of 72, the 2005 Pathfinder weighs in at 5,800 pounds. It offers 40 inches of headroom for all occupants and 42 inches of legroom in the front seat and 34 inches in the back. It is designed to carry up to seven passengers comfortably and has up to 73 cubic feet of cargo space with the back seats folded down. It can also tow a maximum payload of 1,424 pounds.
- The 2005 Pathfinder's standard safety features include airbags for both the driver and front seat passenger and on the vehicle's sides. The Pathfinder also comes equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and stability control. The 2005 Pathfinder received a rating of four out of five stars for front crash tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and five out of five stars for side crash tests.
- While the most basic 2005 Pathfinder model has fewer comfort features than the more expensive models, it still comes equipped with air conditioning, power windows and locks, and an AM/FM system with a CD player and six speakers. It also features cruise control and beverage holders for most occupants. More expensive models include a sunroof, leather seats and an optional navigation system.
