- The Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 was introduced in 1996. This series of cruiser-style motorcycles is still in production, and has produced several variations over the years, including Nomad, Classic and Drifter packages. The 1998 Vulcan 1500 is the flagship model on which the other variations and Vulcan models are based. This V-twin cruiser is a favorite among cruiser bike enthusiasts.
- The 1998 Vulcan 1500 came with a 1,470 cc engine in a V-twin (two cylinder) configuration. This water-cooled, four-stroke engine features four valves per cylinder. It produces 64 horsepower at 4,700 rpm and 82.6 ft lbs. of torque at 3,000 rpm. It transfers this power to the pavement via a five speed transmission. Bore and stroke for the cylinders is 102 mm and 90 mm, respectively.
- Like many motorcycles, the 1998 Vulcan 1500 has tires of differing sizes on the front and rear of the bike. Both wheels are 16 inches, but the front tire is a 130/90-16 type while the rear tire is a 150/80-16 type. The front brakes are a 300 mm single disc with dual-piston calipers and the rear brakes are 270 mm single disc with a single-piston caliper.
- This Vulcan has a wheelbase of 65.4 inches and a seat height of 27.5 inches. The gas tank holds 4.2 gallons. Curb weight without fluids or fuel is 643.7 pounds.
