How to Back Up Folders for Windows

    Use Windows Backup and Restore

    • 1). Insert a blank CD or DVD into the CD/DVD drive.

    • 2). Click the "Start" button and then select "Control Panel."

    • 3). Click the "System and Maintenance" option and then select "Backup and Restore."

    • 4). Click "Back Up Now" to start a backup immediately, or click "Schedule a Backup" to select a time of day and date for the back to be run.

    • 5). Click "Create New Full Backup" from the left selection panel to run a full, complete backup. After creating a new, full backup, the Windows Backup and Restore feature will create backups of only the new files and files that have changed. This is known as an incremental backup.

    • 6). Click "Finish" when the backup is complete.

    Burn a Data Disc to Back Up Folders

    • 1). Insert a blank CD or DVD into the CD/DVD burner.

    • 2). Open Nero, Roxio or any other CD/DVD-burning application.

    • 3). Select the type of disc (CD or DVD), and then select the "Data Disc" option. The interface will open.

    • 4). Click the "Add" or "Add Files" button which will enable dragging and dropping of the folders to be backed up into the CD/DVD project.

    • 5). Click the "Burn" button once all folders are selected and copied into the disc project. The folders will be backed up to the CD or DVD.
