- 1). Log in to your BIOS. The BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is a set of instructions for the computer to successfully operate as it loads the operating system. To enter the BIOS configuration screen, boot the computer and press the corresponding key for the BIOS (usually "Delete," "F2" and "F10").
- 2). Wait for computer to enter the BIOS configuration screen. If you have "AMIBIOS" (American Megatrends Inc.) installed, use your keyboard to navigate to the "Boot" tab. Under "Boot Device Priority," select "CDROM" as your first boot device. Go to the "Exit" tab and choose "Save settings."
- 3). Use your keyboard to navigate to "Advanced BIOS Features" if you have "Award Modular BIOS" installed in your computer. Under "First Boot Device," select "CDROM." Press "F10" to save and exit setup. For Phoenix BIOS, enter the "BIOS Features Setup." Under "Boot Sequence," select "CDROM." Save and exit setup.
- 4). For Dell System users, select "Boot Sequence" and then set "IDE CD-ROM Device" as the first boot priority. Press the "Space" key to disable or enable and the plus sign (+) or minus sign (-) to move up and down. Press "ESC" to exit and save your settings.
- 5). Place a boot disk into your CD/DVD-ROM. Reboot the computer. Wait for the computer to load the initial setup screen. When you are prompted to "Press any key to boot from CD," do so immediately before the computer loads the operating system. If you do not initiate the command when prompted to press any key, the computer will automatically skip the booting from CD and boot the next drive specified in the BIOS.
