How to Keep Windows XP From Alphabetizing My CD When I Burn it

    • 1). Insert your blank disc into your Windows XP computer. Click "Burn files and folders to disc" as you normally would.

    • 2). Find the first folder or file that you want to add to the disc. Drag it into the blank disc window.

    • 3). Select the folder, then press "F2" to rename the file. Add "001" at the very beginning of the folder name. Press "Enter."

    • 4). Add your second folder or file, then rename it with "002" at the beginning of the file name. CDs are programmed to recognize numerical values before lettered ones, so "001 folder folder" would precede "folder." Repeat this process with all the folders that you want to add.

    • 5). Click "Burn to disc." When you insert the disc into another computer or device, the chosen order will now be used, rather than automatic one.
