How to Remove a Steering Column

    • 1). Unbolt the dashboard trim panel at the bottom of the dash underneath the steering column using the 1/4-inch ratchet and socket set.

    • 2). Unbolt the metal trim panel around the outside of the column using the 1/4-inch ratchet. This is a black, metal panel that will reveal the rest of the column.

    • 3). Unbolt the bottom of the steering column using the 3/8-inch ratchet. This is a sleeve attachment that goes through the firewall and is a slip joint, so once it's unbolted, it can be pulled back.

    • 4). Unclip the electrical connections from the steering column to the dashboard using your hands.

    • 5). Unbolt the steering column underneath the dash using the 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets. The column will drop down at this point and can be removed at this point.

    • 6). Reinstall the new column in the reverse order of removal.
