The Nvidia GeForce 7600GT is a mid-level PC graphics card that was released in March 2006. At its release it received rave reviews for its performance class, price range, and the ability to withstand a decent amount of over-clocking. The GeForce 7600GT is a PCI-E x16 card and is paired with its less powerful companion the 7600GS. The card has a DVI display port.

    Memory and Processing

    • The card has 256 megabytes of GDDR3 memory that is clocked at 700MHz. It runs a 128-bit memory bus. The GPU is a G73, common in the GeForce 7-series graphics cards. The core clock speed on the base GeForce 7600 is 560MHz, but the XFX Fatal1ty version of the card brings that up to 600MHz and the memory clock to 800MHz.

    Capabilities

    • The GeForce 7600GT is a Direct X 9.0 and OpenGL 2.0 compliant graphics card. The card comes SLI-ready, meaning it can be paired with another Nvidia SLI-ready graphics card to run in tandem for more powerful video processing. Like most Nvidia graphics cards, the GeForce 7600GT runs well in both Microsoft Windows and the Linux operating system.

    Performance

    • One of the most talked about things of the GeForce 7600GT is its silence. The card is known to run quietly and efficiency, having a maximum power draw of 65 watts. The cooling features of some cards be quite noisy during intensive video processing. As of the time of this writing, more than four years after the release of the GeForce 7600GT, this card is still regarded as a competent graphics solution for a mid- to low-level gaming machine. The card performs adequately in most modern games and is only incapable of running the most recent of releases.
