- 1). Check system information. Click "Start," right-click "Computer" or "My Computer" and click "Properties." Basic system information will appear, including the amount of installed RAM.
- 2). Run the "Dxdiag" tool. Click "Start," type "Run" into the search box and press "Enter" or click "Run," type "dxdiag" into the Run field and press "Enter." System information including the amount of installed RAM will appear.
- 3). Check RAM in the Task Manager. Right-click the taskbar, click "Task Manager" and then click "Performance." The total amount of physical memory and current memory usage will be listed.
- 1). Go to the "Piriform: Speccy Download" site (see Resources), click "Download," "Download from Piriform.com" and then save the installer to the computer.
- 2). Run the Speccy installer, clicking next and agreeing to the license agreement as necessary. Choose the option to run Speccy when installation is complete as you perform the install process. Speccy will open.
- 3). Click the "RAM" heading on the left side of the window. Detailed information about the RAM modules will appear, including the RAM type (Rambus DRAM, DDR, DDR2, etc.) and the manufacturer of the RAM.
- 1). Go to the "CPU-Z: Download" site (see Resources), click the first download link under "Download latest release," click "Download" and then save the installer to the computer.
- 2). Run the CPU-Z installer, clicking next and agreeing to the license agreement as necessary.
- 3). Run CPU-Z by double-clicking on the desktop shortcut created after installation and then click the "Memory" tab. The type of memory and other RAM information for the computer will appear.
- 4). Click the "SPD" tab for more detailed RAM information.
