- 1). Turn the mouse off. Wireless mice have a power switch that allows you to turn the mouse on or off. This switch is usually located on the bottom. Flip the switch to "Off."
- 2). Locate the battery-compartment button. This button opens the battery-compartment door. It's often located on the top or bottom of the mouse. Not all mice have buttons. In some cases, the cover simply slides off.
- 3). Press the battery-compartment button. The battery door will immediately open, exposing the batteries. This allows you to replace the battery.
- 4). Slide the battery cover off with your fingers if your mouse does not have a battery-compartment button. The battery compartment is usually right behind the mouse buttons, close to the spot where your palm rests when you are using the mouse. In some cases, the battery compartment is located on the bottom of the mouse.
