How to Repair Appliques

    • 1). Place the clear Mylar sheet over the torn or frayed appliqué. Trace the appliqué shape with the pencil. Cut out the shape.

    • 2). Place the cut-out shape over the new fabric and trace around the shape with the pencil.

    • 3). Cut the shape from the fabric, adding 1/4 inch from the pencil line around the entire shape.

    • 4). Place the new appliqué directly over the damaged appliqué. Insert a straight pin to hold the new appliqué in place.

    • 5). Turn the appliqué edge under at the pencil line, using the needle. Secure the edge, hiding the pencil line, with small stitches, moving slowly around the entire edge of the new appliqué. Completely cover the old appliqué.
