How to Block Merino Wool

    • 1). Set up your blocking surface, such as a clean bed or a foam board. Lay your merino garment on the blocking surface. If you are blocking pieces of merino fabric before sewing together your garment, sew in all ends before blocking.

    • 2). Pin all pieces in place, ensuring that all edges are straight. Use your measuring tape to make sure that you are pinning your garment or pieces according to the desired dimensions. Do not tug or stretch your fabric more than necessary.

    • 3). Fill your spritz bottle with cool, clean water. Spritz your pieces until they are damp, but not soaking.

    • 4). Leave all pieces in place until they are completely dry before removing your pins.

    • 5). If you are unhappy with the shape of your garment or pieces, you may re-block them.
