- 1). Wipe down all surfaces with damp washcloths or microfiber towels, working from top to bottom. Avoid feather dusters and dry cloths, which only move the dust.
- 2). Vacuum the floors in the room to remove dust and debris. Place a high-efficiency air filter into the vacuum to reduce dust. Avoid sweeping the floors because it makes the dust airborne.
- 3). Open all the windows in your home if the weather permits. Allowing the air to circulate helps ventilate the room and remove dust.
- 4). Store any items in closets in sealed plastic containers or bags to keep away dust. Store clothing such as winter coats and sweaters in garbage bags to prevent dust from settling on them.
- 5). Change your bedding weekly to prevent dead skin cells from collecting. Shake large comforters and blankets outdoors to remove the dust.
- 6). Take rugs outdoors and shake or beat them to remove dust buildup. Vacuum large area rugs to remove dust and dirt.
