Put some Christian meaning into your holidays with crafts centering on Jesus and the gospel. These crafts will help you remember the true reason for celebrating holidays such as Easter or Christmas, or can help spread Jesus' message of love at other times of the year. Any of these activities would be excellent to do as a church group or individually in your home. - Easter provides the opportunity for Christians to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus and to make crafts surrounding these events. Make your own empty tomb as a reminder of how Jesus abandoned his tomb on the third day after his death. You will need a paper plate, which you will cut in half. Cut an opening like that of the tomb on the straight side of one of your paper plate halves. Use a sponge brush to spread brown or grey paint on the underside of both paper plates, giving them the appearance of rocks. After the paint is dry, glue the tops of the plate halves together. On the plate half without the door, opposite of the opening in the other half, write "He is Risen!" with a marker. Glue artificial flowers around the outside of your tomb. Make a cross out of craft sticks and glue it to the top.
- Create your very own angel like the ones that announced the birth of Jesus. You will need a clean milk carton to make the angel's body. Cut off the top of the carton, then cover the outside with plain white paper. Put a border of yellow paper around the top of the carton, and cut slits in it for the angel's hair. You can curl some of the strands of hair. Draw a face in black marker on the front of the carton. Cut out wings from construction paper or card stock, then glue them on the back of the carton. Pull apart cotton balls to make them fluffier, then glue them on the angel's wings. Place candy or potpourri inside your newly created Christmas angel.
- Rather than carving jack-o-lanterns for the Halloween season, make your very own Jesus pumpkin carving to spread the message of Jesus' teachings. Cut off the top of the pumpkin, then scrape out the inside with a spoon. Freehand a drawing of Jesus on the pumpkin, or if you are not an expert pumpkin carver, do an Internet search for "Jesus jack-o-lantern patterns" to use as a guide. You can also carve a short scripture reference into another pumpkin, such as John 3:16. Once you have drawn out your design, cut it out using a fine-point knife. Take your time carving the pumpkin, since you can not erase mistakes. Place a candle in the inside of the pumpkin, light it and place it where everyone will see on Halloween night.
