- 1). Gather enough bottle caps in the same size to form a belt that reaches around your waist. You may want to have a few extras in case any mistakes are made while creating the belt. Clean bottle caps with soap and water. Dry completely.
- 2). Flatten bottle caps. Fold the towel in half. Place a bottle cap with the top facing up and the grooved edge down. Fold the towel over again, so the bottle cap is between the folds of the towel. Hit the bottle cap (through the towel) with the hammer three or four times. Check to see if the cap is flattened. Repeat as necessary until the cap is opened up flat.
- 3). Drill two holes in the bottle cap. Hold the bottle cap with the pliers in the position that it will rest on the belt. For example, if you want the beverage logo to face up, then the bottle cap should be held with the logo facing up. Using the drill and small drill bit that is about the size of a toothpick, drill two holes on opposite sides of the cap in the middle right and middle left of the cap. Repeat with all the caps you wish to attach to the belt.
- 4). Drill holes in the leather belt. Lay the bottle cap in the position where it will sit on the belt. Use a pencil to mark the holes in the bottle cap. Using the same size drill bit, drill two holes in the spots you've marked on the belt. You can also use a small ice pick to complete this task. Repeat for all caps.
- 5). Sew the bottle caps onto the belt with thread or fishing line. Thread the needle with thread or fishing line, tying a knot in one end. Starting from the back, weave the needle and thread up through the hole in the belt, and into bottle cap from the outside right or left (it does not matter on which side you start. The thread should go underneath the bottle cap and come back out on the opposite side. Sew the thread back through the leather belt, coming back out on the back side of the belt. Repeat until all caps are sewn on.
