Give kids craft projects that can help reinforce their self-esteem and show they can succeed at anything they aspire to. Age-appropriate inspirational projects can draw on storybooks and tales of children who deal with, and overcome, life's challenges. Themes can include sports, illness, family separation or classmates. - Have children turn daily reminders of hope and thankfulness into greeting cards with Bible verses. An example can be "Cast your cares upon the Lord, for He cares about you" or "Trust in the Lord." By writing inspirational quotations from the Bible on simple cards they will give away, kids are also doing a good deed. The cards can also be embellished with Bible images, markers and stickers.
- Kids can make inspirational foam door hangers with positive sayings to hang on their own room door or to give to someone to hang on his. Include phrases such as "I'm a Star," "I'm a Winner" or "On My Way to the Top" with marker and embellish the hanger with peel-and-stick foam shapes. Pre-cut foam door hangers are available in different colors and can be personalized with the name of the intended recipient with foam letters.
- Let children create bookmarks by writing famous quotations on heavy card stock after reading a story of overcoming a challenge. An example can be how Thomas Edison invented the light bulb after encountering many failures. The children could write, "Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99% perspiration ~ Thomas Edison." Laminate the bookmark and add a tassel or colorful ribbon.
- Children can make angel magnets as motivational symbols of hope and love for themselves or as a gift for someone special. Craft sticks, a wooden head, bits of lace, paper wings, markers and glue will create angels to display on any refrigerator. Add angel quotes on strips of paper attached to the angel. Examples include, "You'll meet more angels on a winding path than on a straight one" or "An angel is always sitting on your shoulder."
