Crafts With Geometric Shapes

    Egyptian Pyramid

    • Create a square in the middle of a piece of paper. On each side of the square, attach an equilateral triangle, which is one that has three equal sides. The result will be a square with four equally sized triangles attached to its sides. Fold the triangles upward so that their peaks meet. Attach the triangles together using clear tape. Cover the pyramid with glue and sprinkle sand all over it to create a desert effect.

    Cubic Castle

    • Take an empty square box and cut wide rectangles on the front, back and the sides to form four watchtowers on the corners of the box. Form square crenelations around the top of the castle for the battlements. Use your pair of scissors to make a large arched door at the front, without cutting out its base. Drop the door and glue two pieces of string, connecting the left and right end of the door with the adjacent walls. Decorate the castle by painting and/or adding the king's coat of arms over the door.

    Cylindrical Top Hat

    • This craft requires the use of a cylindrical object and round paper parts. Cut an empty toilet paper roll in half and color it black with permanent marker. Place the roll on black construction paper and trace the circle with a pencil. Draw small rectangles on the edges of the circle, forming a shape resembling a Celtic cross. Cut the shape out, place it on the paper roll's side, fold the tabs and glue them on the roll's surface. Trace another circle, placing the pointed leg of a compass in the middle and draw a larger circle to form the brim. Cut out the brim's ring and attach with transparent tape.

    Circle the Olympic Flag

    • The Olympic flag craft is an opportunity to learn how to form accurate circles. Create a large rectangle of a piece of paper. Mark three dots on the upper side of the rectangle. Mark another two dots on the lower side, the first between the first and second upper dots from the left and the other between the second and third ones. Use a compass to form five equally sized circles, placing the pointed leg on the dots. The circles must meet, forming a chain. Paint the circles using blue, black and red for the top circle (left to right) and yellow and green for the bottom circles. Cut out the flag and glue it on a drinking straw to complete your Olympic flag.
