How to Read 1990 Jeep Diagnostic Error Codes

    • 1). Locate the OBDI port in the driver's side footwell. This will be a rectangular connector that runs off of the main harness and is located to the left of the main fuse panel.

    • 2). Plug the OBD scan tool into the OBD connector.

    • 3). Turn on the OBD scan tool and turn the ignition to the "On" position. The scan tool display will show "OK" when the tool has retrieved the codes from the computer.

    • 4). Unplug the scan tool from the connector and shut off the ignition.

    • 5). Scroll through the scan tool's menu until you come to "Stored Codes." Select this option and reference your Jeep's service manual to translate the diagnostic error codes.
